Holiday weekends and a little rain couldn’t keep the pétanque faithful away from the league this week.

The Summer Pétanque League at Carreau Club was in full swing this week…

It is quite literally a whole new ballgame and everything is on the line…this is for all the marbles, the whole enchilada…teams have got to put up or shut up, walk the walk…ok you get the idea.

No one knew quite what to expect when the League Commissioner, perhaps running high on a few too many IPAs, made the surprise announcement that this weeks’ challenge would be entirely composed of singles matches.

Players arrived earlier than usual for a bit of last minute practice and there was a witchy energy in the air as our squads sized each other up going into the final stretch of the season.

On courts 1 & 2, Carreau-No-Virus sought to continue their nearly undefeated run. Standing in their way was the rag-tag bunch going by the name Team Won.

Panchito had a comeback performance going 4-3-1 on the evening, good for second place in the overall standings.

We’ve been waiting all winter for this and the first night of our Spring Pétanque League did not disappoint.
